Our History

H.A.N.K. was born from a conversation rooted in reflection and responsibility. In 2020, Harold Boatner and Jude August found themselves discussing their upbringing in the Glen Oaks community—remembering what it once was, while acknowledging what it had become. As they compared their experiences to the realities facing youth today, one thing became clear: too many young people were being lost to cycles of poor choices, lack of guidance, and increasing involvement in crime at an early age.

They knew something had to change. From that conversation, the idea for H.A.N.K. (Helping At-Risk Noncompliant Kids) was formed with a vision to create something meaningful that would engage youth, instill discipline, and encourage them to become productive, model citizens. However, timing presented a challenge. Jude was presented with a professional opportunity that required extensive travel, and the vision was placed on pause.

But the purpose never left. In the latter part of 2025, the conversation resurfaced stronger, clearer, and more urgent than before. This time, they moved forward with intention. H.A.N.K. was officially established, and what began as a conversation is now an active, growing organization committed to serving communities and changing lives. Today, H.A.N.K. stands as a response to that original question: What are we going to do about it?
